My Drawing Process

Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.” - Camille Pissarro

My inspiration comes from looking at the world up close, especially in nature. In many instances, I begin a composition with a crayon rubbing. Exploring textures, lines and patterns found in bark, or perhaps, a brick or headstone, I am compelled to compose pieces that encourage the eye of the viewer to be drawn into the work and move throughout it. With colored pencils, I complete the piece by integrating complimentary colors that intensify each other. My aim is to inspire those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them - to discover beauty in unusual places.
