Merianne Tomovich is an artist and an educator. She holds degrees in Art Education and Elementary Education. Her ancestry, travels and life journey, above all, have inspired her work. From colored pencil abstracts to ceramics, she celebrates several mediums in unique ways.
An exploration in color and texture.
Beginning with a large black crayon and a large piece of drawing paper, Tomovich looks searchingly, for interesting textures, engravings and numerals chiseled in granite, concrete or stone. Often creating several crayon rubbings on the same sheet of paper, she composes a design that draws the viewer “in” and leads the eye on a journey, via line, color and texture.
